Today the Supreme Court announced that it will hear three appeals against the Affordable Care Act of 2010. Two of the appeals were filed by challengers of the law; the first on behalf of the National Federation of Independent Business (National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius, No. 11-393) and the second on behalf of Florida and 25 other states (Florida v. Department of Health and Human Services, No. 11-400). The third appeal, from the Obama administration, asked high court to uphold the individual mandate provision. This appeal is referred to as the Department of Health and Human Services v.Florida, No. 11-398.
Under the current timeline, oral arguments are expected by March, with a decision in late June.
